In Denmark
the citizens try to have a green and sustainable society. There are many points
which showed that aspect in Denmark.
First, we
can speak about the renewable energy which takes an important place in the
energy supply.
You have to
know that in Denmark, today, the renewable energy represent more than 20% of
Denmark’s energy. And they won’t stop like that because they want that in 2050
the Denmark will be self-sufficient in energy that minds 100% of energy from
renewable energy.
The wind
power is the first source of renewable energy in Denmark. Indeed, the weather
in Denmark is windy and the country is very straight (the highest point in
Denmark is 170meters). That minded a very good potential for the wind turbine. So
there are around 1492 wind farm in Denmark (update in 04/2013 on the
windpower.net) which made the Denmark the leader country for wind turbine
onshore but also offshore (in the ocean).
Folkcenter |
The sun
power is also use as a renewable energy. So you can find many particulars homes
who have solar panel for them consumption.
On the picture you can see different types of solar panel. It was in the experimentals center, Folkcenter that we visited with our class.
Denmark is also a experimental center for wave energy system. Like the Wave Star Energy, that we speak about in "About company".
Moreover of
the use of renewable energy, there are also different green aspects that the
Danish respect. We can speak about bottles and cans recycling. Different kinds
of glass bottles or plastic bottles or also cans have an obligatory deposit.
That minded that when you buy a can for example you will pay a deposit in order
of the category: 1 DKK for Pant A, 1.5 DKK for Pant B and 3 DKK for Pant C. And
when the bottle or the can are ended who can bring them back to specialize machine
(generally presents on the shop) and you recover your deposit back in the form
of a coupon valid in the shop.
In that way the Danish recovered the bottle or cans and they could be recycling. It avoids making new one which cost money and pollutes. So for example a bottle of beer can be re-use 3 times.
In Copenhagen |
Another
green aspect which has also its eco-friendly advantages it is the Bike. Indeed,
in Denmark whatever the weather you can cross some people biking. The different
big parks full of bike can showed that too. It is a way to go to work: in
Copenhagen it is one person in three who work in the city who go to work by
bike, to enjoy the nature: there are around 12.000 km of signed-post cycled
road. So it has benefits for the biker because he could enjoy biking and it is
cheaper. And biking has also advantage for environment because the biker
prefers the bike instead of his car, so no pollutions !
There are
many others points for sure but that were the main that we saw when we were
there during the three months. This “ecological” way of life is very respected
by the Danish citizens because they accepted to change their habits in order to
be more eco-friendly. It is maybe the main problem in France …
