The Student House
If you go studying in Aalborg, it doesn’t make any doubt that you will hear about the Student House (Studenterhuset in Danish). It is simply the place made for students in Aalborg.
The particularity of the Student House is that it’s bar running by a association of students. All the staff members are volunteer students who enjoy working there to meet new people.
First of all, it is a bar where the students can meet and enjoy time together. In the afternoon, it’s a really cozy place with sofas and great music. We use to go there and drink a hot chocolate to warm up after an afternoon of walk in the Danish cold air! And when the evening comes, everybody is there to meet new people and enjoy a party together. There also organize specials nights. Every Wednesday, it is “International night” and all international people of Aalborg are invited to join and have a nice time together.
In addition to the bar there is also a concert hall. In the room there are a lot of concert for free or not. And they also organize different parties with DJ’s or different theme nights as open stages for musicians or humorists or the karaoke night.
The karaoke night was organized in the concert hall. We were really surprised to see a lot of people there. It was really a good night, people weren't afraid about singing in front of this audience and they were just having fun on the stage. The atmosphere was great.
The student house is also the place used by the others associations to do their events. For example, the organization I-life Aalborg which organizes trips, leisure activities and events for foreign and local students, realize most of its events at the student house. They organize big games nights’ tournament in the concert hall. All their meeting points are there.
Last day, we had a great time at the eastern dinner that they organized. The principle was very simple: everyone make a traditional dish from his own country and come to share it with the other participants. It was a great way to discover new culture and meet new people.
